Bob Marley’s ‘Uprising Live!’ was being re-released on vinyl and an animated pack shot was needed.
For the new marketing campaign it was decided that an animated exploded pack shot, showcasing the 3 LP coloured vinyl release was a great way to help market the product.
For a project like this the key assets are the layered artwork files that allow us to create a 3D model of the album itself. This is then taken into our 3D software package and animated to create a digital moving version of the release. Working with Mercury Studios, Type40 created a couple of different versions of the video, marrying the 3D work with motion graphics in Adobe After Effects. A quick, but effective way to help audiences understand what they’re getting before they can physically get their hands on the end product.
Animated artwork videos: an easy way to show what you mean
Type40 has created a number of these type of videos for a range of clients, helping to showcase the physical album releases for an online audience. We’ve also used them as end cards on trailers or teasers for social media and they are effective in capturing people’s attention.
It’s always amazing to see flat artwork brought to life and using these artwork animations is another tool in any set of marketing assets.
