Taking the show on the road, Track Back was a music show with a difference as each episode featured key locations in the story of famous bands.
Commissioned by Last Man Media the first episode was made as a pilot to showcase the format and the possibilities.
Track Back was filmed in Muswell Hill, North London in and around locations that played a part in the stories of the iconic band the Kinks. While only a pilot, it was important to try and get the look and feel of the show right as this would be used as a sales tool, both for the series and to bring possible artists and labels on board. Type40 were tasked with the production and post-production of the pilot and trailer and set about bringing a crew together to film the required footage. Working with veteran TV content expert James Belsham, who crafted the script, all the scenes were shot on one day in several different locations. We had already taken some preliminary footage in and around Muswell Hill, which would be used to help set scenes and tell the story of the Kinks.
Shot on a Sony FX9 and filmed all on location, the show features 3 different presenters, each one taking a series of locations. The main footage was shot at The Clissold Arms, the pub located across the street from the home that the Davies brothers grew up in. It was also one of the first locations that the band played as The Kinks.
