From working with green screen footage to producing the final end card for the advert, Type40 provided all the post production facilities to make the TV advert.
To promote the release of Bruno’s curated album, An Italian Romance, the TV advert featured specially shot footage of Bruno in different situations .
All of the footage was shot in a studio using a mixture of green screen and props to set up the various situations Bruno found himself in. Type40 performed the edit of the clips and the creation of the scenes, from scoping out the backgrounds to adding the special effects. Creating each environment required time to make sure each shot matched as necessary. Working from the director’s storyboard, we created a series of locations; an Italian opera house environment, a moonlight Italian landscape with bright moon in the corner, the Godfather’s house and finally a recreation of the album cover with Bruno in situ.
Creating the Edit and Crafting the Backgrounds
The first step for creating the video was to do an edit of all the footage to get the pace and soundtrack right. Working with Stan Roche of Blacklight Music, we refined the edit until everyone was happy with how it worked. The most important thing was to that the pacing felt right in the 30 seconds available and to make sure all the footage wanted was included.
Once the initial edit was signed off it work began on creating the backgrounds to swap in for the Opera House and other locations. It was important to make sure they all worked together, yet retained there own look and feel to create the different sections of the TV ad. The hardest one to get right was the opening opera house, due to the angle of the shot of Bruno
The Final Touches
With the edit done, the backgrounds added, the final touches were to add the graphics and strap lines over the top, giving the audience information about what was include on the album being released. We also created the end card using the pack shot of the album.
